Our purpose here at the AVHS Peer Learning Program is to help everyone learn. Our approach to learning is different from the way we are taught during school. Our way of helping involves the peers helping and learning from each other. Peer-to-peer education has been proven to be significantly more effective and increases student retention.
When you teach a subject to someone else, you gain a better grasp on that subject. According to brain studies, we remember 10 percent of what we read, 20 percent of what we hear, 30 percent of what we see, 70 percent of what we discuss with others, 80 percent of what we experience ourselves, and a staggering 95 percent of what we teach to others. Not only does the person you help learn, but you learn more as well. The famous moralist Joseph Joubert once said, “To teach is to learn twice.” This program offers a new two-way opportunity that will allow the peer helper and the peer learner to both learn something valuable and beneficial from each other. This program will help you productively learn something. If you want to learn from a fellow peer, click this link to sign up.
